Schultz gehörte vom 22. Mai 1985 bis zum Ende der Wahlperiode 1987 dem Deutschen Bundestag an. Er rückte dabei für den verstorbenen Werner Marx ins Parlament nach. Schultz wohnt in Wörrstadt.
