Biography
Archduchess Helena of Austria (German: Helena von Österreich-Habsburg) (January 7, 1543 in Vienna – March 5, 1574 in Hall in Tirol), was a member of the House of Habsburg, and co-founder of the convent in Hall in Tirol.
She was the tenth (but ninth surviving) daughter of fifteen children of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor and his wife Anne of Bohemia and Hungary.
Life
Helena had a strict jesuit catholic upbringing. Due to her frail constitution, her father considered her unfit for marriage and instead choose for her the monastic life. Jointly with her sisters Magdalena and Margaret she founded the Haller Damenstift in Hall in Tirol.
She died aged 31 at Hall in Tirol convent and was buried in the local Jesuitenkirche.
