Harshvardhan Singh Dungarpur (born 6 June 1956) is an Indian politician. He is a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Personal life
Harshavardhan Singh is the only son of Maharawal Mahipal Singh II, erstwhile Maharaja of Dungarpur in Rajasthan. Harshavardhan Singh is thus the Yuvaraja of Dungarpur. He is the nephew of cricket administrator, Raj Singh Dungarpur, who was his father's younger brother.
Harshavardhan Singh got married twice. His first wife was a princess of Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh, and they had two daughters together. Their elder daughter, Shivatmika Kumari, has been given in marriage to Yuvaraja Jaideepsinh Jadeja of Rajkot State in Gujarat. Their younger daughter, Trishikha Ammani Avaru, has been given in marriage to the Maharaja of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wodeyar.
Harshavardhan Singh's second wife is Priyadarshini Kumari, daughter of the thakur of Sodawas, a nobleman of Jodhpur State. They have a daughter and a son, namely Shivanijali Kumari and Tvishiman Singh.
Politics
Harshvardhan Singh is member of Bharatiya Janata Party, elections to the Rajya Sabha were held and his party made him a candidate from his home state, Rajasthan. He secured 40 votes in the Rajasthan state assembly and won the election to the Rajya Sabha. This happened just at the time when his second daughter's wedding ceremony was being held, and so the period was most happy and auspicious.
