Harris Chowdhury

Chowdhury served as the Political Secretary of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia from 2001 to 2006. He had control over access to the Prime Minister giving him influence in the government. He was charged by the Military backed caretaker government of acquiring his wealth through corruption in 2007. He left Bangladesh in 2007. He was sentenced to three years in jail by a special anti-corruption tribunal set up by the caretaker government.

Chowdhury was charged with involvement in the Murder of former finance minister, Shah AMS Kibria, in 2005. He was also charged with involvement in the 15 August 2004 Dhaka grenade attack and Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. On 21 December 2014, an arrest warrant was issued against him. His properties were confiscated to 2016 by the directives of Bangladesh High Court.
