Biography
Hans-Georg Schierholz (16 August 1921 – 12 February 1996) was a radio/radar operator and Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II, and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
As a Bordfunker (radio/radar operator) in the night fighter force he flew on 212 combat missions, supported in 57 aerial victories, and bailed out four times. He served in the crews of Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Frank and Major Werner Husemann, the Gruppenkommandeur (group commander) of I. Gruppe (1st Group) of Nachtjagdgeschwader 3 (NJG 3—3rd Night Fighter Wing).
