Fe'i ganed yn Niwbwrch yn 1888. Daeth Griffith yn adnabyddus am iddi ddod yn gydradd gyntaf gyda Kate Roberts yng nghystadleuaeth y nofel yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Castell-Nedd 1934.
