Biography

Gordon Dalbey authored four books targeted at Christian men and is a popular speaker in the Christian men's movement, at conferences, retreats, and on radio and TV shows.

Education

Dalbey attended three universities in the United States: he holds a Masters in Divinity from Harvard, an M.A. in journalism from Stanford, and a B.A. in mathematics from Duke. After school he sought interesting opportunities including being a news reporter in Charlotte, NC, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nigeria, a high school teacher in San Francisco and Chicago, and a Christian minister in Los Angeles.

Books

His first book, Healing the Masculine Soul, pioneered the Christian men's movement by freeing men from both religiously correct morality and politically correct ideology. His 1991 appearances on the Focus on the Family radio program drew a listener response in the top 10% of the show's history and were re-broadcast in 1998, 2003, and 2008. In a later book, Sons of the Father, he proposes healing for what he calls the “father-wound,” which he asserts cripples men as husbands, fathers, workers, and friends. Fight Like a Man, his third book, focuses on the unmet longing for “Dad” and a father’s manly guidance, which stirs deep shame in a man, and how a “Father God” transforms us into warriors who battle for His rule against both aggression and passivity. His fourth men's book, "Do Pirates Wear Pajamas? and Other Mysteries in the Adventure of Fathering" aims at helping dads let their children teach us about Father God's heart. His book No Small Snakes: a Journey into Spiritual Warfare tells Dalbey's memoir of meeting the powers of evil and becoming the spiritual warrior he is today. "Broken by Religion, Healed by God: Restoring the Evangelical, Sacramental, Pentecostal, Social Justice Church" is his personal story of seeking a whole Christian experience not fragmented by shame which fuels division. "Religion vs Reality: Facing the Home Front in Spiritual Warfare" uncovers the enemy of God at work in modern culture today. His most recent book, Pure Sex: The Spirituality of Desire" is a rerality-based view of sex, free from either judgmental religion or care-less tolerance, presenting sexual desire as a spiritual phenomenon and therefore fulfilled only by the God who created it. Dalbey's articles have appeared in several magazines and newspapers, including New Man, Focus on the Family, Leadership, The Priest, Los Angeles Times, Single Parent Family, and Reader’s Digest. He now divides his time between writing, speaking, and prayer ministry.
