Biography
Giovanni Battista Dalla Gostena (auch Della Gostena; * in Genua; † September 1593 ebenda) war ein italienischer Lautenist, Kapellmeister und Komponist.
Dalla Gostenas Geburtsdatum ist unbekannt und in der Forschung umstritten (Vermutungen erstrecken sich über den Zeitraum von 1530 bis 1555). Über seine Jugend und Ausbildung ist nichts bekannt. Von 1584 bis 1589 wirkte er in seiner Heimatstadt an San Lorenzo als Priester und Kapellmeister. Dalla Gostena wurde unter ungeklärten Umständen erschossen.
Er schuf geistliche Vokalmusik, darunter mehrstimmige Madrigale, aber auch weltliche Musik, insbesondere für Laute.
