Giant Gonzalez was a renowned professional wrestler, widely known for his time at WWE and WCW. Prior to becoming a pro wrestler, Giant Gonzalez was a pro basketball player, who was drafted by the Atalanta Hawks at number 54 in the 1988 NBA draft. With fellow Argentinian, Hernan Montenegro, they both became the first players from Argentina, to be drafted by the NBA. In the NBA Giant Gonzalez struggled to adapt to the physically demanding nature of the NBA and also partly due to a knee injury that could not go away.
After his brief stint in the NBA, Giant Gonzalez turned to professional wrestling, signing with WCW. After undergoing one year of intensive training, Gonzalez was introduced under the moniker El Gigante at Capital Combat. One of the biggest wrestlers ever, Giant Gonzalez stood at 8 feet and weighed more than 500 lbs.
