Biography
Gavin C. E. Stuart M.D., FRCPC is the Dean of Medicine and Vice Provost Health of the University of British Columbia. He was appointed to the office of Dean of Medicine in September 2003, and has served for 12 years.
Stuart was born in Manitoba and attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario. He pursued postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology and then a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Wayne State University in Detroit. He has held faculty appointments at Wayne State University and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, where later served as the centre's director and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1999, he was appointed as Vice-President of the Alberta Cancer Board.
He is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
