Gattlin Griffith (born November 13, 1998) is an American actor, best known for portraying Walter Collins in the 2008 film Changeling (directed by Clint Eastwood)
Early life and education
Gattlin Griffith was born as Gattlin Tadd Griffith on November 13, 1998, in California to film stuntman Tad Griffith and wife Wendy Morrison Griffith.
He is the eldest of four siblings and his three younger brothers are Callder West, Arrden Hunt, and Garrison Cahill.
Gattlin is the fourth generation of a champion trick riding and equestrian gymnastics family. His paternal grandfather, Dick Griffith, is in the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, and his paternal grandmother, Connie Rosenberger Griffith, is in the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
Gattlin graduated from Bishop Alemany High School in Los Angeles, California, in 2017. In 2016, he was placed first in the North American Trick Riding Competition in Las Vegas.
He is currently attending the University of California in Los Angeles, with his major being English. He also plays football for the Santa Clarita Warriors.
With his brother, he runs a YouTube channel titled GRIFFITHBROS.
Career
Gattlin made his acting debut in 2002, aged 4, playing a baby in Jason Rodriguez's western drama Reckoning, starring Jason Rodriguez and Stacy Cunningham. In 2007, he was seen as a little boy in the episode "Something Blue" of How I Met Your Mother.
In 2008, Gattlin landed the role for which he is most fondly remembered: "Walter Collins" in Clint Eastwood's Changeling. The film is loosely based on the real-life events of the kidnapping and murder of nine-year-old Walter Collins. Angelina Jolie plays his on-screen mother Christine Collins and Jason Butler Harner plays the culprit — the Canadian serial killer Gordon Stewart Northcott.
Gattlin's other television credits include Eli Stone (2008), Without a Trace (2009), Castle (2010), and Criminal Minds (2010). His other notable films after Changeling are Couples Retreat (2009), The River Why (2010), and Labor Day (2013).
In 2011, in sci-fi Green Lantern, he played the younger version of "Hal Jordan" (played by Ryan Reynolds).
Most recently, in September 2020, he was seen as "Ben" in director John B. Crye's drama Chance, opposite Tanner Buchanan, Matthew Modine, and Amanda Leighton. He has also finished filming for John Berardo's crime/mystery film Initiation, in which he will portray the character of "Beau Vaughn" alongside Lochlyn Munro, Yancy Butler, and Amber Pauline Magdesyan.
