Biography

Rt Rev. Frederick Augustus Bennett CMG (1872 – 16 September 1950) was a New Zealand Anglican Suffragan Bishop in the first half of the 20th century. He was born in 1872, educated at Nelson College and ordained in 1897. He began his career as a Missionary to the Māori in Southern Taranaki. He was then at Rotorua from 1905 to 1917. He Assistant Superintendent of the Māori Mission in Hawkes Bay until 1928 when he became the Suffragan Bishop of Aotearoa in the Diocese of Waiapu. His son later occupied the role.
He married Hana Te Unuhi Mere Paaka (Hannah Mary Park) (? - August 1909).
In 1935, he was awarded the King George V Silver Jubilee Medal.
He died on 16 September 1950.
