Fraser Murdoch

Fraser Murdoch /ˈmɜːrdɒk/ (born 19 September 1990) is a Scottish independent filmmaker, visual effects artist and supervisor, and animation generalist. Murdoch is the freelance head of animation and digital media at multi-award-winning science animation production company Vivomotion.

Murdoch is the co-founder of Regal Animation, an animation production company within the Regal Community Theatre Bathgate, having set up the department with the Regal's Artistic Director Scott Kyle in 2016.

Bab: The Man Who Took Too Much

Bab: The Man Who Took Too Much is the first episode of an animated series about scrapyard owner Bab Cunningham who is trying to get away with swindling the government, produced by Regal Animation. In November 2016, the casting of Scott Kyle and Gregor Firth was announced. The pair played alongside each other in Outlander, where Kyle played Ross and Firth played the role of Kincaid, two of the men of Lallybroch, both of whom Murdoch met whilst working on Outlander.

Scott Kyle spoke of the film on Radio Saltire in January 2017, saying:

"I met Fraser on Outlander... he gave me a leaflet for Bab: The Man Who Took Too Much - he was fundraising for it... Through my role at the Regal Community Theatre in Bathgate, we were able to get funds together so we can make a ten minute long episode. I am going to play Bab - the man who took too much. The reason for the title is that Bab's dad owns a scrapyard and his dad takes a heart attack and is in the hospital. Bab is now in charge of the scrapyard and his dad always said 'always take a wee bit from the tax man but always give something back' and Bab is the man who took too much. So he has been taking and taking and taking. It is all about how Bab has ran the scrapyard and dealt with the pressures, and the melting pot of recent affairs where there has been many higher profile businesses not paying their ways"
