Biography

Francis White (21 April 1830 – 4 May 1875) was an Australian politician.
He was born at Ravensworth to overseer James White and Sarah Crossman. Educated at Maitland, he became a surveyor and inherited his father's estate, Edinglassie, near Muswellbrook. On 6 July 1853 he married Mary Hannah Cobb, with whom he had ten children. He acquired land near Scone in 1853, and later bought further land in the Liverpool Plains and New England. In 1874 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Upper Hunter, but he died the following year. His brother, James White, was also a politician.
