Biography
Frank Nuttall (born 4 May 1968 in Hamilton, Scotland) is a Scottish professional football manager.
Playing career
Nuttall played at Celtic in the reserves and under-18 teams between 1985-87. He decided to study physical education at Cardiff Metropolitan University and later at Loughborough University to get a Master's degree in sports science. . He began coaching at age 19.
Coaching career
At age 24, he began coach educating for the Welsh FA and coaching with their Under-14 and Under-15 sides. In 1998, he became 1st Team Fitness Coach of West Bromwich Albion F.C., gained his 'A' License in 1999 and Pro License in 2004.
From 1998 to 2011, he was a coach educator and consultant for the English FA.
Rangers F.C. appointed him as 1st Team Fitness Coach in 2004 and he was part of their backroom staff when they won the league and Scottish League Cup 2004-05. Later, he was Assistant Coach of Al-Nasr Dubai SC, 1st Team Fitness Coach at St.Mirren F.C and Scout for Middlesbrough, joining their backroom staff as 1st Team Fitness Coach and Head of Physical Development in 2008.
Thereafter, he was Assistant Coach for China and Advisor to the Chinese Football Association and Chinese clubsbetween 2010 and 2013. He was part of the coaching staff of the England National under-17 team that won the UEFA Championships in 2010 in Leichtenstein.
Africa
In 2014, Nuttall joined Gor Mahia, champions of the Kenyan Premier League;. It would be the first time he would serve as a head coach.
Under his stewardship, he led the K'Ogalo to an unbeaten league title in 2015, an achievement unprecedented in the competition since 1976. Adding to this, Nuttall guided them to KPL Top 8 Cup and Kenyan Super Cup titles in 2015 besides winning the league in 2014 and 2015. and 2nd place at the CECAFA East African Club Championships in 20005 held in Tanzania. As a result of his efforts, Nuttall was named 2015 SportPesa Coach of the Year.
After leaving Zamalek in May 2016 where he was Assistant Coach to Alex McLeish, Nuttall was appointed Head Coach of Ghanaian club Accra Hearts of Oak SC in 2017.
