Biography
Dr Florence Gaub (born circa 1977) is a Franco-German researcher who specialises in the Middle East and North Africa. She currently holds the post of Deputy Director at the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris.
She has published papers on a number of security and geostrategic issues, including: Arab defence industries, Daesh, counter-terrorism, security sector reform and pan-Arabism. She is also on the editorial board of SIRIUS: Journal of Strategic Analysis.
Prior to her current position, Gaub worked as Senior Analyst at the EUISS, as well as at the NATO Defense College in Rome and the German Parliament. She completed her PhD at the Humboldt University, Berlin and also has qualifications from the University of Munich, Sciences Po Paris, and the Sorbonne.
Gaub speaks French, German, English, Arabic and Italian. She is also active in print and visual media.
