Emeka Okonkwo is a Nigerian banker. Educated as a civil engineer, Okonkwo has a banking career that includes Corporate Finance, Credit Risk Management, Marketing, Treasury and Strategic Management across several continents.
Education
Okonkwo has a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a master's degree in Construction Management from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Warwick Business School, Coventry, England.
Career
Okonkwo's foray into the banking industry started as a banking officer at Citibank Nigeria. He was a senior Analyst with the Citigroup Public Sector Group London where he focused on identifying and proposing investment opportunities within the Public Sector and Government banking in the African region.
He was Executive Director and head of Commercial Banking and Global Subsidiaries Group for Citibank Nigeria Ltd. where he was responsible for all credit and marketing activities throughout their commercial banking businesses in Nigeria including the satellite branches.
He was the Global Banking Head in Citibank Bangladesh from 2011 to 2013.
He was Member of the Board Finance and General Purpose Committee until September 22, 2015. He was also Member of the Board Risk Management and Control Committee until September 22, 2015.
Okonkwo joined Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in 2013 as Executive Director, Corporate, International, Investment Banking and Treasury.
