Aelod blaenllaw o'r Methodistiaid Calfinaidd ac emynydd oedd Elizabeth Phillips (1829 - 1912).
Ysgrifennodd Elizabeth Phillips 25 o emynau a ddarganfuwyd gan Richard Griffith (Carneddog) ymhlith llawysgrifau Robert Isaac Jones (Alltud Eifion). Copïodd Carneddog yr emynau a'u cyhoeddi yn Cymru a olygwyd gan O. M. Edwards yn 1906. Mewn nodyn ar ymyl y llawysgrif gan Alltud Eifion dywed fod Elizabeth Phillips yn fam i Dr. Thomas Hughes (1793 - 1837), meddyg, Plasward, Pwllheli, tad Elizabeth, gwraig gyntaf ‘Alltud Eifion.’
