Playing career
Reid's professional career saw him primarily in the ECHL, where he began playing with the Elmira Jackals in 2007. After one season with the Jackals, Reid was traded to the Wheeling Nailers for forward Steve McJannet. Reid attended the Pittsburgh Penguins' rookie camp in 2008 before being returned to their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling for the 2008-09 ECHL season. He led all Nailers defensemen with 13 goals and earned a spot in the ECHL All-Star game.
After one season with the Nailers, Reid signed with the Florida Everblades for the 2009–10 season.
