Eda Marie Barsalote

Eda Marie Francisco Barsalote is currently based at Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia. She graduated with a BSc in Biology from Visayas State University, Philippines where she started her career in the academia for 5 years (2006-2010; 2012-2013). In 2012, she obtained her Master of Science in Nematology at Ghent University, Belgium under the support of Vlaamse Interuniversitaire Raad Universitaire Ontwikkelingssamenwerking in Flanders. 

In 2017, she obtained her  PhD in Plant Pathology in Zhejiang University, China with the support of China Scholarship Council. After a year’s PhD research at Institute of Agro-Sciences in Hangzhou China she moved to Tasmanian Institute of Agricuture, Australia to pursue her Graduate Certificate in Research and a PhD in Agriculture working on the project “In-situ manipulation of root exudation for soil-borne disease control” funded by Australian Research Council. Her research interests have centred primarily on plant-disease caused by pathogen (e.g. nematode, fungi) and has published several scientific articles from 2017-2019.
