Ebba Hult de Geer

Ebba Hult de Geer (1882–1969) was a Swedish geologist known for her development of the geochronology of Sweden. Working with her husband, Gerard de Geer, she used varved clay in glacial lakes as evidence for ancient climates (paleoclimatology) and studied similar deposits worldwide to establish a global climate history. Though the de Geers were partners throughout their scientific career, from when they married in 1908 to when Gerhard died in 1943, Ebba's contributions are largely overlooked. They ran the Swedish Geochronological Institute.
