Dr. M.G. Manjunatha

Dr MG Manjunatha is a Research Scholar and foremost Epigraphist of Karnataka.Currently, he is serving as the Director ofMysore University Press since 2015.

Dr MG Manjunatha was born to Sri Gangappa in 1973. He completed his MA and Ph.Dand started his teaching career at Bangalore University in early 1990s. He served as Teaching faculty at Bangalore and Mysore Universities,at the Post Graduate Centre, Hemagangothri, Hassan. His interest has been

• Dr Manjunatha started researching on Epigraphy, since 1994. He compiled his research into"Kannada Lipi Vikasa" along with GK Devaraja Swamy in 2004. It is known as a seminal work on the evolution of Kannada text and font. Starting with the Brahmi, Kannada letters found on Soil, Clayworks, Metal works, Stone Inscriptions, Palm-leaf manuscripts, Printed Books right from the Mauryan time to Mysore Wodeyars. Tracing the 2000 year journey of Kannada, this book has been lauded for detailed explanations of mechanisms to read and interpret the text on Inscription Stones. Kannada Lipi Vikasa has been used as Primary Reference material by various scholars across domains, notably in formulating Character Recognition and blockwise segmentation studies in Kannada Linguistics. It is much cited work on Cognition and Recognition Circuit The book elicits good response from public, at various literary events.

Dr Manjunatha has been researching and guiding Research Scholars on the Kannada literature between 1200 to 1600, based on the Inscription stones found in Karnataka.

• Dr Manjunatha was awarded the Sujayashree Award for excellence by Raghavendra Swami Matha, Mantralaya, for his much acclaimed Book, Kannada Lipi Vikasa.
• Dr Manjunatha has been awarded the Gauthama Award for his research work.

• Dr Manjunatha is a much sought out speaker at the Seminar circuit and conventions.
