Biography
Diego de la Vega (1770s-1812) was an Spanish nobleman, Contador Mayor in the Tribunal de Cuentas de Buenos Aires during the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. He also served as Minister of Real Hacienda de Buenos Aires.
Biography
Diego de la Vega was born in León, Spain, arrived in the port of Buenos Aires, around the year 1803, as Inspector General of the Royal Treasury. During the British invasions of the River Plate, Vega had participated in the defense and reconquest of Buenos Aires. In 1810, Diego de la Vega was one of those attending the Open Cabildo.
Diego de la Vega was married to Dolores Cárdenas, born in Buenos Aires. They were the parents of Ventura de la Vega, famous writer and dramatist.
