Biography
Denis Malgin (born 18 January 1997) is a Swiss professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He formerly played for the GCK Lions and the ZSC Lions. Malgin was selected by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Playing career
Malgin made his National League A debut playing with ZSC Lions during the 2014–15 NLA season.
On 25 July 2016, Malgin signed an entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He made his NHL debut on Panthers' season opening game on 13 October 2016. Malgin got his first NHL career point with an assist in this second NHL game in a win against the Detroit Red Wings on 15 October 2016.
International play
Malgin competed with Team Switzerland at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships where he was named to the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championship All-Star Team. As he originates from Russia, he could represent Team Russia internationally, but he refused as he didn't want to move to spend the required three consecutive seasons to gain international eligibility for the Russians.
