Biography

Dawn Fratangelo is a reporter based in New York City and reports for NBC News, including Dateline, Today, Nightly News and MSNBC. She has held this position since January 1996.
She has covered various stories, including extensive coverage of the 9/11 attacks and the War in Iraq. She reported from New York City and Europe, including in-depth reports from London on Prime Minister Tony Blair's critical decision to support the U.S. on Iraq.
Before joining Dateline, Fratangelo was a general assignment correspondent for NBC based in Chicago, a position she held since April 1993. She covered stories of national interest from the Midwest floods and California wildfires, as well as child custody and welfare issues.
She received her undergraduate education at SUNY Plattsburgh (in Plattsburgh, New York) and began her career there as a news anchor at WPTZ from 1983 to 1985. Between 1985 and 1987, worked at KFMB-TV as a newscaster and reporter, jumping to WCVB-TV in 1989 to hold the same position, but left in 1991 to co-anchor the 6pm edition of News 4 New York with Chuck Scarborough on WNBC until 1993.
Fratangelo's first husband she divorced in the early 1990s, her second husband Eric Wishnie, a former NBC producer, committed suicide in 2007.
