David Tucker

Biography
David Tucker is a geologist in Washington state. He a research associate at Western Washington University, instructor at North Cascades Institute, and the director of Mount Baker Volcano Research Center. He operates the blog "Northwest Geology Field Trips", a "must-read" blog for laypeople interested in geology. In 2015, he published a popular book on Washington geology, Geology Underfoot in Western Washington. He resides in Bellingham, Washington.
Tucker is a 1974 and 2004 Western Washington University graduate.
In 2012, Tucker and two collaborators published a paper that described a new species of Gastornis, a flightless bird, Rivavipes giganteus. The description followed discovery of the largest known fossil bird footprint, found in the Chuckanut Formation, and which Tucker helped organize a volunteer team to helilift out of a landslide.
