Biography

David 'Luttsy' Lutteral is a Canadian radio and television presenter. He currently hosts The Nova 106.9 Brisbane Breakfast Show With Kip Wightman and Ashley Bradnam.

Early life and education

Lutteral was born on 5 September 1976 in Brisbane, Australia.

He graduated from St Joseph's Nudgee College in 1993. In the years 1994-1998, he attended Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.

Radio career

After finishing his education, Lutteral joined FM88 Hyper Radio in Aspley, in 1994. After a two-year stint at FM88, he became a news and sports presenter at 4BC radio in Brisbane, in 1996. He remained with the radio station until 2001.

In 2002 he co-hosted a Triple M weekend show "Blood sweat and Beers" with Ashley Bradnam. In 2003 the show changed name to "Good Morning Darra". The same year, in 2003, Lutteral started to appear weekly on the ABC TV's "The Fat". Later that year he moved with the show to Channel Seven. In 2004 he featured weekly on 110% Tony Squires.

In late 2005, Lutteral joined the Sydney-based radio station, Nova, where he began co-hosting the Nova 106.9FM Brisbane breakfast show. The show, which started in April 2005, had Meshel Laurie, Ashley Bradnam, and Kip Wightman as his co-hosts.

The show disbanded in 2009 with Wightman leaving to join his girlfriend Emileigh in Boston, USA, and Bradnam standing down due to personal issues. Meshel Laurie went on to host a new show on Nova FM, "Meshel, Tim and Marty," an Australian drive radio show, with Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold. Following the event, in 2009, Lutteral moved to Los Angeles to pursue his journalism career.

In 2011, the Nova Brisbane breakfast show was revived. Lutteral moved back to Australia joining the original member, Bradnam, and the new members Camilla Severi and Dan Anstey. In 2012, the show was re-titled to "Ash, Kip and Luttsy," with Severi and Anstey leaving, and Kip Wightman re-joining.

Lutteral also appears on Fox Sports panel TV program 'The Back Page' hosted by Tony Squires.

In addition, Lutteral performs as an on-field MC and venue commentator at sporting events, which in the past have included:

  • The Australian Cricket Team Test Match and One Day International on-field MC 2003–07
  • The 2008 FINA World Swimming Championships – Poolside MC / race commentator
  • The Commonwealth Games 2006 – Athletics MC and race commentator, Rugby 7’s MC
  • Australian Wallabies on-field MC – all domestic Test Matches. 2005–08
  • The NSW Waratahs Super 14 season on-field MC 2006–07
  • The Australian Athletics Grand Prix commentator and MC, 2001–06
  • The Sydney 2000 Olympic Commentary Team
  • Olympic Gold Medallist, Sydney 2000 Olympics - "High Ropes Course"

Acting career

In 2005, Lutteral and his Nova FM colleague, Ashley Bradnam, appeared in Scott Corfield-directed comedy film, The Cadets USA

In 2008, he and Bradnam appeared in Chris Nyst-directed comedy/crime film, Crooked Business. Lutteral played the part of a taxi driver, whereas Bradnam portrayed a pawn shop attendant.

In the years 2009-2011, Lutteral was a part of the TV series documentary, 20 to 1, in which was seen in 9 episodes.

Controversy

In June 2017, Lutteral alleged on "Ash, Kip & Luttsy" that Andy Lee 'stole' the concept of his new TV series True Story with Hamish & Andy (Hamish Blake and Andy Lee). However, he retracted his claims in another episode of the show a few days later.
