Biography
Daniel R. Lucey is a senior scholar with the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and an adjunct professor of Medicine-Infectious Diseases at Georgetown University Medical Center, with his main interest on epidemics and pandemics, including anthrax, smallpox vaccination, SARS, influenza, MERS, Ebola, and Zika. He served as the infectious diseases chief during the 2001 anthrax attacks. He was one expert who called for the 2018–20 Kivu Ebola epidemic to be declared a public health emergency of international concern in July 2019.
