Biography

Constancia Angeline Reyes (born May 27, 1953), better known by her screen name Coney Reyes-Nubla is an award-winning Philippine film and television actress, television host and producer with Chinese and Spanish descent. She has been one of the co-presenters of Student Canteen (1975–1982) and Eat Bulaga! (1982–1992).

Early years

She earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts major in Communication Arts at Maryknoll College (now Miriam College). Reyes was a student leader and consistent dean's lister during her college days.

Show business debut, Student Canteen and Eat Bulaga

Reyes made her movie debut in Return of the Dragon in 1975. She hosted for Student Canteen since its first airing on GMA Network in 1975. In 1982, Reyes left Student Canteen for Eat Bulaga on RPN. Chiqui Hollmann filled the slot Reyes vacated. Reyes's hosting stint with Eat Bulaga opened more opportunities for her and she has co-starred with Dolphy, Fernando Poe Jr., Vilma Santos, Lorna Tolentino, Maricel Soriano, Helen Vela, Aiza Seguerra and Vic Sotto among others in several movies and TV programs.

Coney Reyes on Camera and beyond

Her weekend afternoon drama anthology Coney Reyes on Camera (1984–1998), which she was also a producer, was one of the successful top-rating programs aired on Saturday afternoons and brought home several awards and citations including PMPC Star Awards for TV, Catholic Mass Media Awards and the CAMACOP. In 1994, she hosted the drama trilogy Three Who Dare with broadcaster Mari Kaimo. The trilogy was produced by CBN Asia for the Holy Week.

In 1999, Reyes co-starred with Ronaldo Valdez, Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa (in their first team-up) in a weekly family drama Ang Munting Paraiso.

She has appeared in programs like Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001-2003), Ysabella (2007-2008), Rubi (2010) and 100 Days to Heaven (2011) (her first leading role in TV appearance since Biyudo si Mister, Biyuda si Misis in 1997). In 2013, Reyes made an appearance in a teleserye Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, (2013) working again with Judy Ann Santos, and a movie Four Sisters and A Wedding portraying the mother of the lead characters.

40th year of show business and return to GMA

After a 25-year entertainment career mostly with ABS-CBN, she moved back to GMA Network in May 2014 upon the invitation of Redgie Acuña Magno, executive vice-president for drama. Her return to GMA made a timing in celebrating 40 years of her show business career. She is portraying Sonia (mother of Anthony Real, which is played by Dingdong Dantes) in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real.

Back Again to ABS-CBN 2

In the last quarter of 2014, she transferred back on ABS-CBN to star on the former Kapamilya TV series Nathaniel, with Gerald Anderson, Marco Antonio Masa, Shaina Magdayao and Isabelle Daza.

Personal life

A born-again Christian, Reyes previously co-hosted with Peter Kairuz in The 700 Club Asia which shows on weeknights on GMA News TV (formerly QTV) at 11:00 pm. She is an active member and a discipleship group leader of Victory Christian Fellowship.

She is also a mother to L.A. and Carla (with former husband, former basketball player Larry Mumar), and Vico (with ex-partner Vic Sotto).
