Biography
Christoffer Franzén (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈkrɪstɔfər franˈseːn]) is a Swedish musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and composer from Gothenburg. He is known for his alternative solo-project Lights & Motion, in which he plays all the instruments and writes all the music, as well as produces and mixes. Franzén created the project in 2012 as a result of a longer period insomnia and gained worldwide recognition when his music was featured in Google's commercial at the Oscars in 2013. His music has since been featured in multiple Hollywood trailers, fashion shows, commercials and TV-Shows.
Musical career
Christoffer Franzén created the musical project Lights & Motion in early 2012, after having experienced a prolonged period of insomnia. The band have so far released three full-length albums, Reanimation and Save Your Heart both released in 2013 through the American independent record label Deep Elm Records, with the third one, Chronicle, released in early 2015. In the summer of 2016, it was announced on Lights & Motion´s Facebook page that their 4th full-length album, Dear Avalanche, would be released in early 2017, through Deep Elm Records.
In 2016 his song "Stardust" was featured in the trailers for the film Rules Don't Apply
In December 2013, Lights & Motion was voted as "The Best New Artist" in the annual polls by Post-rock on Facebook, the world's largest post-rock community.
Outside of the Lights & Motion project, Franzén have released 3 albums under his own name, two in 2015, and Wide Awake in March 2016, as well as having scored several short films.
Equipment
Franzén has been a long time user of Fender Guitars. He has used the Telecaster, most notably, the 72 deluxe reissue and the thinline.
