Christine Kirch (1696 in Guben, Germany – 6 May 1782), was a German astronomer.
She was the daughter of the astronomers Gottfried Kirch and Maria Margarethe Kirch and the sister of Christfried Kirch. She and her sister Margaretha Kirch were educated in astronomy from the age of ten and worked as the assistants of their brother. Christine Kirch did the calculations and assisted in the observations for Christfried Kirch.
Accomplishments
Christine Kirch helped calculate astronomical calendars, but only received minor compensation for her work by the Berlin Academy of Sciences before the death of her brother, Christfried Kirch. She created the Silensia calendar. She calculated the almanac and the ephemeris for the Berlin Academy of Sciences. She was recognized by the Berlin Academy of Sciences for her work and contributions.
