Biography
Christian SCHMIDT (ŝmit) estis germana esperantisto kaj pioniro en Germanio. Estis prezidento de la mondlingva societo en Nürnberg, grava societo de volapükistoj en tiu urbo, kiu tiutempe estis unu el la plej fortaj centroj de volapükismo. Laŭ lia propono la societo en decembro 1888 decidis forlasi volapükon kaj aliĝis al Esperanto. Redaktis (kune kun L. L. Zamenhof) kaj eldonis la unuan Esperanto-gazeton, La Esperantisto.
