Biography

Charlotte Scott is an award-winning British documentary filmmaker based in Bristol, England. Her work focuses on natural history, science and news documentaries. She is known for her long association with BBC Natural History Unit, producing 3 episodes for Human Planet (2011,) and television movie documentary Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur (2016.)

Education

Charlotte Scott attended Bangor University in Bangor, Wales in the the years 1989–1992 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology/Zoology.

Career

In the early part of her career, Charlotte Scott worked with Bristol-based Available Light Productions, where in 1994 she edited documentary titled Entertaining Mr. Wedlock, featuring the Bristol-native singer/musician Fred Wedlock. In 1994–1997, she worked with Atlas Adventures as a researcher, director, and producer and created several short films on endangered and extinct animals.

In late 1997, Scott joined BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, England. In 2004, she co-directed and co-produced "Revolution" episode of the television series British Isles: A Natural History. The series was presented by Alan Titchmarsh. In 2008, she produced "Tides of Change" and "Heart of the Dragon" episodes for BBC's six-part nature documentary series on China titled, Wild China.

In 2012, Scott produced "Ivory Wars: Out of Africa" episode for BBC's docu-series Panorama. The episode was presented by British journalist Rageh Omaar, in which he went undercover in central Africa and China to ask whether the African elephant can survive in some parts of the continent.

In 2015/16, she directed and produced the award-winning television documentary movie Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur. The documentary was presented by David Attenborough and featured Argentinian paleontologist Diego Pol and English evolutionary biologist Ben Garrod. The documentary won Panda Award at Wildscreen Festival 2016 and was nominated for Documentary Award at The Grierson Trust British Documentary Award 2016.

That same time, she also directed and produced the 11th episode of 34th season, "Raising the Dinosaur Giant," for BBC's documentary series Nature. The documentary was hosted by David Attenborough and featured Argentinian paleontologist Diego Pol and Argentinian-American paleontologist Luis M. Chiappe.
