Biography

Charles Wesley James, born on December 22, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, is a former professional baseball player. He was an outfielder over parts of six seasons (1960 - '65) with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds. James was a member of the Cardinals when they won the World Series in 1964. During his Major League baseball career of 510 games, James batted 0.255 with 28 home runs, and he batted in 172 runs.
James was also a letterman as a halfback in football for the Missouri Tigers in 1957 and '58. However, he transferred to the Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned his bachelor's degree.
