Brian Wiprud (born 1961) is an American author.
Writing style and awards
Wiprud was a self-published novelist until his novel was nominated for the 2004 Barry Award for best original paperback original, and won that year's Lefty Award, given for the funniest crime novel. At that point he was approached by an agent and given a contract by Random House for Pipsqueek and 3 additional books. Pipsqueek won a Barry Award.
Wiprud's novels are mysteries and thrillers. His novel, Pipsqueak, won Left Coast Crime's Lefty Award (Best Humorous Mystery). His novel, Crooked, was a finalist for the Shamus and Barry Awards.
Early life and career
Born in 1961 in Washington, DC, Wiprud attended the NYU Film School and has been featured in the New York Times for his engineering expertise of New York City's underground tunnels. He is a resident of New York City.
