Brian A. Metcalf directed, produced and wrote the micro-budgeted drama/thriller The Lost Tree.
Metcalf directed his next feature called Living Among Us which stars John Heard, William Sadler, James Russo, Esme Bianco, Andrew Keegan and Thomas Ian Nicholas, where he also served as writer and producer. The film was distributed by Vision Films in association with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Metcalf helped produce a documentary called Little Gandhi which was submitted by Syria for consideration for an Academy Award in the Foreign Language Film category, the first entry ever by Syria. He won the Murray Weissman Award for the poster he created for Little Gandhi.
Variety announced in February 2018 that Metcalf would be directing a character drama script by Rex Pickett (Sideways).
Deadline announced that Metcalf was writing, directing and producing the drama Adverse, with a cast starring Mickey Rourke, Lou Diamond Phillips, Sean Astin, Penelope Ann Miller, Matt Ryan, Jake T. Austin, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Andrew Keegan, Shelley Regner and more. It was just announced that Adverse would premiere at Fantasporto Film Festival, Portugal's largest film festival.
After their collaboration on the film "Adverse," Variety announced both Metcalf and Rourke would be collaborating on a new feature titled "Twilight Into Darkness," written and produced by both of them. Rourke would be starring and Metcalf would be directing.
