Biography

Brad Krevoy (born 1956) is an American film producer, who has been directly involved in the development, finance, production, acquisition, and distribution of more than 100 motion picture and television projects. He is the founder and Chairman/CEO of the Motion Picture Corporation of America (MPCA), a well-regarded supplier of quality films for theatrical, television, and home video release by major and mini-major studios as well as international distributors.
Krevoy maintains a strong connection with his Alma Mater, Stanford University (Class of '78), where he received a BA in Political Science.
Having been in business for over 20 years, MPCA first made its mark with big commercial comedies and genre films and has since expanded into producing and developing English language remakes of successful foreign language films. Mr. Krevoy is also known for jump starting the careers of many young actors and filmmakers who have gone on to become some of the biggest names working in Hollywood today including, the Farrelly brothers, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Sarah Jessica Parker, Will Ferrell, Viggo Mortensen, Ashley Judd, Jude Law, Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Kirsten Dunst, Courteney Cox, Bill Paxton, Ben Foster, Gretchen Mol, and Jon Turteltaub.

Early career to MPCA Founding (1987-1996)

Brad Krevoy is a graduate of Stanford University and Hastings College of the Law. After graduation, he served as a Legislative Fellow in the California State Legislature and worked as an entertainment attorney at a prominent Los Angeles law firm.

In 1987 Mr. Krevoy and longtime business partner Steve Stabler co-founded the Motion Picture Corporation of America (MPCA), one of the largest suppliers of inexpensive but high-quality films in the industry. He later co-established Concorde Pictures with Roger Corman, ultimately serving as the company's president and working closely with Mr. Corman to manage his vast library of films.

Among his many early works, Mr. Krevoy produced the blockbuster Farrelly brothers comedy Dumb and Dumber starring Jim Carrey as well as the Farrelly's follow-up, Kingpin, starring Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray. Mr. Krevoy also produced Beverly Hills Ninja starring Chris Farley and Jungle 2 Jungle with Tim Allen. Mr. Krevoy's moderately-budgeted 1994 production Threesome, starring Stephen Baldwin and Lara Flynn Boyle, remains one of the most profitable independent films to this day.

Mr. Krevoy expanded upon MPCA's early success and specialty in producing big commercial comedies and genre films with a first look deal at Paramount Pictures in the early 1990s.

Co-President of Orion Pictures (1996–1998)

In 1996, MPCA was acquired by John Kluge's Metromedia International Group and operated under Metromedia's Orion Pictures Corporation. Mr. Krevoy served as Co-President of Orion Pictures, where he oversaw the production, acquisition, and distribution of Orion's motion picture and television programming. At Orion, he produced films for Academy Award-winner Tom Schulman (Dead Poets Society) and released films such as 1997's Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, Prisoner of the Mountains (directed by Sergei Bodrov), and the critically acclaimed Ulee's Gold (directed by Victor Nuñez, presented by Jonathan Demme, and starring Academy Award-winner Peter Fonda).

Restarting MPCA (1998–Present)

In 1998, Mr. Krevoy returned to his roots and restarted Motion Picture Corporation of America with a distribution deal through MGM. Since then, he has produced over 20 motion pictures including: STARZ!/Encore Pictures boxing drama Joe and Max (which collected both ESPN and ACE award nominations); the Miramax action film Undisputed (starring Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames); the 2002 Sundance premiere Bookies (for director Mark Illsley of Happy, Texas fame); and Boat Trip starring Academy Award-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., Horatio Sanz, Vivica A. Fox, and Roger Moore for Artisan/Lionsgate.

Mr. Krevoy also produced the supernatural thriller Stephen King's Riding the Bullet starring Jonathan Jackson, Erika Christensen, David Arquette, and Barbara Hershey for the USA Network and Lionsgate; the sci-fi action film Slipstream starring Sean Astin also for Lionsgate; the Anthony Hickox-directed action comedy Blast, starring Eddie Griffin and Breckin Meyer for Blockbuster and MGM/UA; the Sony/Screen Gems release Second in Command starring Jean-Claude Van Damme; The Hard Corps, also starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Vivica A. Fox; the horror franchise sequels Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes and Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud starring Lance Henriksen for the Sci Fi Channel and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment; and the family film Moondance Alexander, starring Don Johnson, Lori Loughlin, and Kay Panabaker.

Most recently, Mr. Krevoy produced the hard-hitting action film Linewatch, starring Cuba Gooding Jr., and the heart-warming true story Taking Chance starring Kevin Bacon, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and was the most watched HBO original film in over five years - a film that Hollywood Reporter praised for breaking Hollywood's Iraq War losing streak. Mr. Krevoy's latest, Hardwired, a sci-fi action thriller starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Val Kilmer, and Michael Ironside for Sony, was released direct to DVD. He is now in pre-production on the horror film Deadfall.

As of late, Mr. Krevoy has carved out a specialty niche in developing and producing English language remakes of successful foreign language films. The first foreign language remake for Mr. Krevoy was Jungle 2 Jungle which was based on the hit French comedy Un indien dans la ville (An Indian in the city). Currently Mr. Krevoy is in development on the remake of the successful Japanese film Yomigaeri for DreamWorks Studios, which is being written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter William Nicholson. Additionally, Mr. Krevoy is developing remakes of another Japanese hit, Departures, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2009 Oscars and has earned $59,430,506 in Japan as of 31 March 2009, and The Cloud based on the German film Die Wolke which was based on the German novel Fall-Out by famous German author Gudrun Pausewang.

Mr. Krevoy remains very active in several major charities as well, including the Fisher House Foundation and the California State Summer School for the Arts, of which he sits on the Board of Directors. He is also a frequent guest speaker at various film festivals and seminars around the world, most recently serving on a panel dedicated to the business of English language remakes of Japanese films at the 2008 Tokyo International Film Festival.
