Biography
Blaise François Pagan (1603 Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, Vauclus, France – 18 November 1665 Paris) was a French aristocrat, soldier, and military engineer.
A descendant of a Neapolitan noble family that moved to France in 1552, Pagan served in the armies of Louis XIII and Louis XIV. He did not have any children.
Pagan's "Les Fortifications" was the dominant text of its era on military fortifications. Pagan was a significant influence to Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban, another expert on fortifications.
