Biography
Balkrishna "Raosaheb" Gogte (born 1916) was an Indian industrialist, philanthropist and educationist who founded the Gogte Mines mining company in Belgaum, Karnataka in 1967. He made significant donations to the Karnataka Law Society, who in turn founded two colleges in his namesake, the Gogte College of Commerce in 1954/1966 and the Gogte Institute of Technology in 1979. He was a prominent businessman member of the Chitpavan community.
Gogte's niece, Rekha Gogte married the late Dnyaneshwar Agashe, the managing director of the Brihan Maharashtra Sugar Syndicate Ltd. and the former vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Another of Gogte's nieces, Anjali Gogte married Dilip Dandekar, the managing director and chairman of Kokuyo Camlin.
