Biography

Avrom Yanovsky (1911–1979) was a Canadian editorial cartoonist. His cartoons were printed as early as the 1930s.[1] Most of his cartoons were printed in Canadian Tribune. He also illustrated left wing publications like the screenplay for Eight Men Speak.

Yanovsky was appointed as the editor of the English section of Vochenblatt in 1958.

His son was musician and restaurateur Zalman Yanovsky.

Early life

Yanovsky was born in 1911 in Krivoi Rog, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire (now Ukraine) and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada with his family when he was two.
