Biography
Father Augustine Fernandes OFM is a Franciscan priest working in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi in Pakistan.
Biography
His doctoral dissertation on the philosophy of Muhammad Iqbal provides a valuable account together with a critical appreciation of Iqbal’s Islamic humanism.
Father Fernandes taught psychology at Saint Patrick's College, Karachi from 1962-64. He has also been a Professor at the Christ the King Seminary (Pakistan).
He is a gifted preacher and from 1966 to 1975 was a regular preacher at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Karachi.
Together with Tim Heinsch, he formed the first Franciscan community in Bangkok in 1985.
In 1987 he went to the US to do a course in Transactional Analysis. On his return to Pakistan he set up practice as a relationship counselor.
