Ashley Rose Orr (born 11 November 1990) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles in the films Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and My Neighbor Totoro (1988), and in the television series Without a Trace (2005) and Cold Case (2004).
Life and career
Ashley was born on November 11, 1990, in Denville Township, New Jersey. She had four siblings.
Ashley started out in New York City on Broadway in The Sound of Music, Les Miserables, and Annie Get Your Gun. She was then chosen in a national search of over 10,000 girls for the role of Shirley Temple in Nadia Tass' The Wonderful World of Disney: Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story (2001).
She then moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue an acting career. She had episodic roles in such television series as Without a Trace (2005), Desperate Housewives (2005), Dexter (2006), and Monk (2007).
Ashley continued to perform on stage and in the summer of 2004, appeared in the role of "Fredrika" in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical A Little Night Music at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angles, California. She shared the stage with Kristen Bell, Victor Garber, Zoe Caldwell, Judith Ivey, Marc Kudisch, Michele Pawk, and Laura Benanti.
In 2015, she had a minor role in Sam Soto's TV movie Up in Smoke, starring Soto, Harvey Guillén, and Naathan Phan.
