Annie Brittain (ca. 1930) most well known as Mrs. Brittain was a British clairvoyant medium.
Brittain was most famously endorsed by Arthur Conan Doyle who described her as his favourite medium. However, magician Harry Houdini who attended a séance on Doyle's request described her mediumship as ridiculous and unconvincing. In a notable incident Brittain made entirely incorrect guesses about a policeman who was disguised as a farmer. She was arrested and convicted for fraudulent fortune telling. She had also been convicted and fined on another occasion. Despite the convictions of fraud, spiritualists such as Doyle and Oliver Lodge defended the medium.
