Biography
Anna Linda Zignego is an Italian associate professor of internal medicine at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, University of Florence.
Life and career
Zignelo graduated from the University of Siena in 1981 with degrees in medicine and surgery. In 1986, she joined University of Florence where she got training in clinical immunology and allergology and in 1990 obtained her PhD in clinical pathology and pathophysiology from the same institution. From 1985 to 1990 she served as a researcher at the Genetic Recombination and Genetic Expression Unit at Pasteur Institute and in 1990 returned to Florence where she served as a postdoc at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Epathy Virus and Viral Oncology and of the Hepatitis and Hepatitis Transplantation Clinic at the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Florence. In 2001, she became an associate professor of internal medicine at the University of Florence where she also teaches courses on clinical physiopathology and systemic medicine for students who already have their degrees in medicine and surgery and at various Medical Specialization Schools where she teaches courses on gastroenterology and oncology to PhD students who have degrees in medical research. Currently she is in charge of the Center for the Study of Epathic Virus Systemic Events and the Careggi Research and Innovation Center where she studieslymphatic cells and hepatitis C. In 2018, Prof. Zignelo was named as one of the Top Italian Women Scientists.
