Ann De Greef (born 1967) is a Belgian animal rights activist and founder, director, and spokesperson for Global Action in the Interest of Animals (GAIA).
Animal rights activism
De Greef studied tourism and graduated in 1987. In 1992, she with Michel Vandenbosch founded the animal welfare organization, GAIA, in Brussels, Belgium; De Greef has since been the director of the organization. GAIA conducts campaigns against organized animal abuse and lobbies for greater respect for animals.
She received death threats for her campaign to ban wild animals in circuses in 2004
In 2007, De Greef became a member of the management team of the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE). In addition, De Greef also sits on the Advisory Committee of the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food.
