Angel Escobedo

Biography
Angel Escobedo (born January 12, 1987) is an American wrestler who specializes in freestyle wrestling. Escobedo was an NCAA champion, 3-time Big Ten champion, and 4-time All-American in college. Escobedo represented the United States at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships.
Youth career
In high school, Escobedo was a four-time Indiana state champion. He was ranked as the top wrestler in the 135-pound weight class and compiled a 223-1 high school record. Beyond Indiana, Escobedo was the 2002 FILA Cadet Freestyle Champion. He also grew up in Griffith, Indiana.
College career
Escobedo wrestled in college for the Indiana Hoosiers.
Escobedo achieved NCAA All-American honors four times:

- 2007: 4th Place

International career
At the 2013 World Team Trials Escobedo finished 2nd, but was promoted to compete in the World Championships when Obe Blanc failed a drug test.
At the 2013 World Wrestling Championships Escobedo advanced to the bronze medal match in the 55 kg division. Escobedo ultimately lost in the bronze medal match by one point to Sezar Akgül of Turkey.
