Biography
Andrés Mauricio Muñoz is a Colombian writer. (Born in 1974) in Popayán, Cauca, Colombia. He studied systems engineering and has worked at Hewlett Packard for several years, but has also pursued a literary and cultural management career.
He was director and writer of the disappeared magazine La Movida Literaria and founder of the magazine of noir short stories Aceite de perro (Dog oil) whose title pays homage to the American writer Ambrose Bierce by using a title of one of his most famous short stories. His first book was the novel I Remembered You yesterday Rachel (Te recordé ayer Raquel)(2004). It was followed by Uneasy minor (Desasosiegos menores)a book of short stories was published in Colombia and Peru. Then came A place to receive Adela (Un lugar para que rece Adela ) edited by the University of Antioquia at Medellín. Th author also appeared in an anthology of short stories called The inhabited heart: last stories of love from Colombia distributed in Spain and Colombia.(Anaya, Algaida)
The last donjuán (El último donjuán) is his first novel, published by Seix Barral (2016) from Planeta book company, from Spain. The last donjuán deals with social and love relationships that take place or start by digital means such as the internet, chats and apps like Microsoft Messenger at the beginning of development of web 1.0 and 2.0 towards the first years of 21st century. The novel also addresses topics such as identity and fraud in virtual environments and various types of love relationships.
He has won several literary awards, including: National Story Contest of Colombian by magazine Libros y Letras, the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Literary Prize, and the UIS Storybook contest.
