Biography
Amy Schendel is an American associate trumpet professor at the University of Iowa.
Education
Schendel studied music with John Aley, John Rommel, Robert Baca, Manny Laureano, Uwe Kleindienst, and Gary Bordner at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison (at which she also was Paul J. Collins Wisconsin Distinguished Fellow), and is a graduate from all of them.
Career
As a soloist Schendel is known for playing in such orchestras as the University of Iowa Orchestra and Band, Texas Woman’s University Wind Ensemble, Indiana University Orchestra, Minnesota and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestras as well as Orchestra Iowa and Texas Winds. In Europe, Schendel is known for her participation in the Augsburger Philharmoniker with which it played in such German cities as Munich, Dachau, Augsburg, and Berlin. In 2015, she was a soloist in the Oregon Symphonic Band and throughout 2016, did recitals at the University of Oregon, Pacific Lutheran University, and Pacific University and performed in Eugene Symphony and the Portland Chamber Orchestra. She also was a soloist for the Iowa Band Masters Association, the International Trumpet Guild, Iowa Brass Quintet, Contrapunctus Brass Trio, National Repertory Orchestra and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Schendel had also played at various music festivals, including Tanglewood Music and Spoleto Festival USA and was an honorary participant at the United States Marine Band and the United States Air Force Band.
