Her biggest breakthrough was becoming the exclusive Ring Announcer on Fox Sport's networks "Sunday Night Fights" series- under Promoter Dan Goossen, in 2001. Amy first broke the glass ceiling when she was asked to announce the very first episode of ShoBox: The New Generation on Showtime. Both were the first for a female.

Early life

Hayes was born prematurely in Wyandotte, Michigan, just a few miles from Detroit. Her father Morris was a broadcaster for a local radio station and The Union Chairman for General Motors Saturn Division in Troy, Michigan. Her mother, Freda worked hard sewing car seats for a living. Amy graduated from Specs Howard School of Media Arts in Southfield, Michigan in 1996 with a degree in Radio & Television. In High School she was a left handed short stop and third baseman making the All Star team most seasons. She landed her first big spokesperson/modeling job as Detroit’s Miss Autorama in 1993.

Career

In 2001, Hayes began her career as a ring announcer. In 2001, Amy signed a 5-year deal with Fox Sports News to do ring announcing.

Boxing

Hayes became interested in boxing during her teen years, and after she landed her first gig as a ring card girl, decided she wanted to become the world's first female ring announcer. Amy began to disc jockey around the Detroit area, beginning at Radio X in Flint and moving to the popular WRIF rock station in Detroit.
