Amanda Owen

Amanda Owen (born 1974 or 1975) is an English shepherd and writer.

Her first book The Yorkshire Shepherdess was published in 2015 (Sidgwick & Jackson, ISBN 978-0283071966) and she followed this in 2017 with A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess (Sidgwick & Jackson, ISBN 978-0283072413). Before the books she was known to many readers through her Twitter feed as "The Yorkshire Shepherdess".

She lives and farms in a remote farm, Ravenseat, in Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales with her husband Clive and their nine children.

In August 2017 she appeared on BBC Radio 4's The Museum of Curiosity. Her hypothetical donation to this imaginary museum was a shepherd's whistle, used to communicate with her sheep dogs.
